Everyone loves this Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizza recipe!

If you’re like us, summer time is BBQ time. Obviously that means we want to spend more time outside in the sun rather than cooped up in the kitchen. When we BBQ at our house, we always cook the main meat dish, several sides to appeal to all types, and then one or two desserts. We love making our fruit pizza because it’s super quick, super straightforward, and not heavy. When we make this, we like to make the crust and frosting ahead of time and put in the fridge. We usually top it with fruit shortly before everyone arrives. We use different fruit every time also. Use whatever your little heart desires. A word to the wise, using bananas means putting them on right before eating because those little guys WILL turn brown and no one wants a brown fruit pizza.

Straightforward Fruit Pizza ingredients

  • Sugar cookie dough – you can use from-scratch sugar cookie dough or storebought. They both work well!
  • Cream cheese – we like going with full fat cream cheese for this, but reduced fat (Neufchatel) also works well. We wouldn’t use fat free for a house favorite taste.
  • Granulated sugar – you’ll need this to sweeten the cream cheese
  • Vanilla extract – a good quality vanilla extract makes a difference
  • Fruit – get creative! Whether you want to use your favorite fruits, or go with a theme, use the fruit you love

How to cook Fruit Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Roll the cookie dough out into a large circle (about the size of a large pizza).
  3. Place the dough on a parchment lined or silicone mat lined baking sheet. Do not place it directly on a cookie sheet or pizza stone. It will stick. If you do not have parchment paper or a silicone mat, be sure to grease your baking sheet well with nonstick spray.
  4. Bake the cookie dough crust in the oven for about 15-17 minutes, or until the edges are set and barely begin to brown.
  5. Remove the crust from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
  6. In a medium sized mixing bowl combine the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla.
  7. Whip the frosting together with an electric hand mixer until it’s fully combined and fluffy.
  8. Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie dough.
  9. Top the frosting with your fruit.
  10. Serve the fruit pizza sliced like a standard pizza and enjoy!

  • Christmas themed – if you want a green and red theme, go with kiwi slices and strawberries
