How to cook Shredded Chicken Taquitos

(full recipe instructions with measurements and printable card are at the end of this post)

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the cream cheese, salsa, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  3. Add in the cooked chicken and pepperjack cheese.
  4. Warm the tortillas between two damp paper towels briefly in the microwave. This will keep them from tearing while rolling. Keep them between the paper towels only taking one out at a time while you roll them.

Making Chicken Cream Cheese Taquitos in Advance

Yes! We like to make big batches of them and then put them in the freezer.

When we're ready to eat them, we heat them up in the oven or air fryer.

You technically could heat them up in the microwave, but we like ours crispy and crunchy on the outside so we stick to the oven or air fryer.

What to Serve with Chicken Taquitos

Chicken taquitos are great served with refried beans, Spanish rice, and plenty of toppings. Great toppings include sour cream, pico de gallo, and Guacamole.

Storing and Reheating Creamy Chicken Taquitos

To store from-scratch chicken taquitos, allow them to cool completely. Place them in an airtight container. They will stay fresh up to 3 days.

To reheat, a house favorite method is in the air fryer. Not only will they reheat, but they’ll stay nice and crispy. We recommend reheating them at 350°F for about 5 minutes. You can also reheat them in a 300°F oven for about 10 minutes.
